Tris. Or as she was born, Beatrice Prior.
I think that when she transferred to Dauntless, she really found herself. But in Abnegation, those Dauntless traits still showed through.
Being a Stiff, I think Abnegation was the most picked-on faction. What did Tris do as this was happening? Nothing. She did simply, plainly nothing. Because she couldn't. Because her faction didn't allow her to. As her friends (maybe) were being told off by Erudite, being accused of abusing their children (that accusation wasn't always wrong, but ANYWAYS), being accused of getting extra food, and simply being teased for being a Stiff.
And I personally think that sometimes, doing nothing takes more courage than fighting back. Instead of making a bigger mess, leaving the one that isn't yours to be cleaned up by the people that made it. To me, that is pretty admirable. I think we could all learn from her example.
After she transferred, it was obvious there was still some Abnegation there. But I agree with what Tris and Tobias decided on in Insurgent. What they decided was that, in order to be brave, you have to be selfless, and in order to be selfless, you have to be brave. I think that's accurate.
To conclude my blog post for this week, I'm going to include a part of the Dauntless manifesto.
"We believe in ordinary acts of bravery. In the courage that drives one person to stand up for another. . ."
And I think Tris identifies with that quite well.
Catch me next week, my Lovelies,
